I’ve said before that Halloween flowers wilt faster than people expect this time of year. Dried flowers sidestep that problem entirely, and they happen to suit the gothic side of Halloween better than almost any fresh bloom could.

You don’t have to choose one or the other. A base of dried statice and bunny tail grass gives you structure that holds for weeks, and you can tuck in a few fresh mums or dahlias in water tubes for a party. Remove the fresh stems once they fade without disturbing the rest of the arrangement.
